Dictionary of USAN and International Drug Names

The United States Pharmacopeia (USP) announced the 2002 edition of the USP Dictionary of USAN and International Drug Names. The USP Dictionary is known as the reference guide for established names and other accurate and up-to-date information about drugs.

It is recognized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as the official source for established drug names. The dictionary provides users with United States Adopted Names (USAN) for drugsalong with a drug pronunciation guide, official United States Pharmacopeia and National Formulary (USP-NF) names, nonproprietary (generic) and brand names, a list of drug manufacturers, pharmacologic and therapeutic categories, molecular formulas and weights, chemical names, CAS registry numbers and code designations, and graphic formulas.
