More colors for a better picture

Opera from Evotec Technologies is a new-generation confocal microplate imaging reader that provides fully-automated simultaneous high-speed, high-resolution cellular screening. The system now has four lasers (405 nm, 488 nm, 532 nm, 635 nm) plus a high-pressure xenon lamp for fluorescence excitation in the range 360–635 nm. This allows a wide range of dyes to be used. Images can now be acquired by up to four CCD cameras in parallel, enabling high-speed multicolor image acquisition and analysis for multiplexed assays and FRET applications. Up to six bandpass filters per camera make it possible to optimize acquisition settings to suit the application.
