The cleanest cut through living cells

mmi Cellcut from Molecular Machines & Industries (MMI) is a second-generation laser microdissection instrument that makes microdissection fast, precise and absolutely contamination-free. It has a new solid-state UV (350 nm) laser that guarantees precise cutting without damaging the tissue, and will run for around 10,000 hours without maintenance. Other features include an inverted microscope with high-precision XY stage, CCD camera, computer and software. A new cell chamber also makes it possible to microdissect living cells under sterile conditions. The cells grow on a membrane coated with poly-l-lysin. Before microdissection, the cell chamber is placed in a petri dish coated with a special adhesive. Both parts are steam-sterilizable and non-toxic. The laser passes through the closed petri dish, guaranteeing sterility and preventing any damage to the cells.
