Setting up an “e-lab notebook”

Diosynth, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical active ingredient manufacturers, has chosen Waters NuGenesis Scientific Data Management System (SDMS) as the enabling technology for its “e-lab notebook” initiative. NuGenesis SDMS facilitates the seamless integration of information within an organization by accurately and automatically capturing, cataloging and storing lab instrument data. Diosynth plans to use the robust data-capture abilities of NuGenesis SDMS as a foundation. The system will then be customized to suit the organization’s specific needs, using the software developer’s kit (SDK). The decision comes a year after Diosynth’s initial investment and successful implementation of NuGenesis File Capture. “We were already preparing an update for our in-house designed e-lab notebook application”, says Chris van Eekelen, Manager Research and Development, Diosynth. “By using the SDK toolkit we are able to create and authorize e-lab notes in a more efficient and completely electronic way. We are glad to have access to such a flexible tool allowing us to upgrade our elec-tronic lab notebook system without having to redesign it.
